color blind

Full disclaimer before my title confuses others:
I'm not actually color blind
I am capable of seeing the full spectrum of light that is possible for a human being. Bam, disclosure done.
What I'm referring to, for my title, are my difficulties in creating compelling images with color photography. I'm weirdly picky when it comes to critiquing my own color work, and more often than not, they tend to not live up to my standards.

I have a feeling it's because I'm still not confident enough in my shots when I have to add the element of color to my compositions. It probably doesn't help that I decided to practice color photography on my film cameras instead of my digital X100, so no take-backsies for me!
That also brings up a pretty good idea, actually. The only way to improve is more practice, so I guess I'll definitely be using my digital camera more to practice with color for instant feedback. Lately, I've been reserving my X100 for photos at night or when I know that I'll be taking hundreds of photos that day.

That being said, I'm pretty happy with these shots! I was nervous when I sent these rolls of film away for development, not knowing what to expect. What always surprises me is how great the color tones are when I receive my images, as I'm used to just seeing shades of gray.
This series of images are a mixture of two different Kodak films: Portra 400 and UltraMax 400
I tend to overexpose my color film, so for most of these shots, I metered at 100 ISO.
That's all for now, hope you have a good day! Until next time!

P.S. So I lied about the whole previous "let's practice on my digital camera more often!" idea. I just bought a whole boatload of Colorplus 200 film. What can I say? I really love using my Olympus cameras. I mean, I'll still be using my X100, but it'll remain as my shooter for evening/nighttime photography.
